Evanton Gateway Proposals

Evanton Road Safety Concerns

The tragic loss of a much loved family pet dog has resulted in a new concerted effort to calm the traffic in and through Evanton. With speeding now at a high level of concern, a big effort is well underway to solve various traffic problems in the village with speed, in particular, becoming the major issue.

The Hearts and Minds approach to this problem and other unsatisfactory traffic behaviour in the village, has become a joint endeavor involving The Highland Council, Kiltearn Community Council and the residents of Evanton. All are now engaged in the planning and locations of the various project signage designs and installations.

Particular attention is being concentrated on the leaving and entering of traffic at both the Fyrish Crescent and Drummond Road spots. Swordale Road and the Old Dingwall Road passing the Kiltearn Primary School also are to be included in any planning.  The number and locations of electronic and mechanical signs are now being discussed.

Considerable response and actions have already begun by the Highland Council Road Safety Department and the KCC  with speed and other surveys being carried out over much of the village.  Any further comments and proposals from the Evanton community they have agreed, would also be very welcome. Should you like to comment on any traffic concerns you have noticed in the village, please contact the Secretary at Kiltearn Community Council who will be glad to discuss or pass them on to, the appropriate people.

The Community Council is proposing to purchase some Speed Indication Signage (SID) and are keen to lead on this project and to consider all ideas and suggestions from all who are concerned.
