Hall Transfer

The Diamond Jubilee Hall,  Evanton.

The office bearers of Kiltearn Community Council, as Trustees of the Victoria Diamond Jubilee Hall, are delighted to announce that, as of Monday 16th August, the transfer of ownership and Trusteeship of the Hall has now transferred to Evanton Community Trust who will act as custodians on behalf of the people of the Parish of Kiltearn. The reason for the transfer is that, as a community council, Kiltearn Community Council is not set up to own community assets nor access external funding. As a registered charity, Evanton Community Trust can access external funding to carry out necessary repairs and upgrades to the much-loved Victoria Diamond Jubilee Hall.

Kiltearn Community Council Chair, Cairine MacIver said, “We are pleased that the Hall is now in the ownership of a Trust who have a record of working with the community and look forward to the Hall once again becoming a focus for the Community. At this point I wish to publicly thank all the Members of the Community Council, past and present, and the wider community for all the work they had undertaken to protect the Hall for the Village and wish the Trust every success for the future.”

Evanton Community Trust Chair, Mandy Macleman said “We are delighted to take on the custodianship of this much-loved building on behalf of the community and the residents of the Parish of Kiltearn. Over the next few years, we aim to secure funding to update and renovate the hall to make it a building that is fit to serve the community of Evanton for the next 25 years! We will be consulting widely with the community over the coming months to find out what you want to see available in the hall. There is already a Hall Management Group in place, who will be running the hall on a daily basis; this group is made up of representatives from hall user groups, Kiltearn Community Council, Evanton Community Trust and members of the community. We have applied for funding to employ a Community Development Officer for the village who will carry out a consultation which will direct the upgrading and future development of the hall, they will also be available to support other groups in the village to progress projects and access funding.

We are planning a free Welcome Back! event for all age groups on Saturday, October 2nd – so SAVE THE DATE! More info coming soon!

The hall is available for community bookings immediately. We are in the process of setting up an online booking system but for now please send booking enquiries by direct message to hall Facebook page @DJHEvanton.
