“REINSTATE THE EARLY BUS” ACTION GROUP
First of all we like to thank all people in Evanton Village for their support with completing the Survey. It has been a good opportunity to hear your voice, to have discussions at the door and understand in a wider and deeper way how you, locals in Evanton, have been affected.  From the 666 surveys what went out we collected 211 completed Surveys at the doors and Post Office. This is a really good turn out as we had no idea what to expect. A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped bringing the Surveys to the door which added to the response coming back. They offered a great amount of their time and could not have done this without.
The online Survey is open for another few weeks and for anyone who has missed out on the door-to door- Survey and would still wish to complete the Survey, please do so! It is the only way to get your voice heard! If you live not in Evanton but used the same bus (Tain, Invergordon Alness, Dingwall) then the Survey is valuable for you. Find it at evanton.online/notice-board.
I would like to explain briefly who we are and what we are doing. We are a local protest group who are fighting the cancellation of the 8.08am bus , no.25. We were born out of a group of concerned Dingwall Academy parents whose children live in Evanton and used this morning bus service either on an everyday basis, others on an whenever needed basis. Our administration members are Annelie Graham, Glenda MacKenzie and Larisa Jansen. As we were aware that many more people than only parents were affected we started to put heads together and gather information and evidence to fight our course.
The cancellation of the morning service, since 16th of April 2018, set off the protest. Around 35 people came together at the bus stop and reached the front page in the “North Star” on  Thursday 3rd of May. in which they showed their anger about being cut off. Not only has the morning bus to Dingwall been cancelled, but also there are No more buses between 2pm and 7.45pm from Dingwall to Evanton! A gap from almost 6 hours!!
The Action Group Admin members have been writing letters, sending off emails and been at the MSP office for bringing up the matter. Transport Scotland, BusUsers Scotland as well The Traffic Commissioner have all been made aware. We do know that this is an issue what affects many areas and therefore want to bring this up to government who are at present bringing forth the new Transport Bill. We are hoping to reach for more intervention from local Council, a change in better information to public, more partnerships with transport providers, councils and communities, and a bus that will take our people where they want to go especially at the peak times of the day!
